The DZD-Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden (PLID) at the University Hospital of TU Dresden (TUD) is a recently established research program focused on the pathogenesis of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It’s main focus is on the mechanisms causing the destruction of pancreatic beta cells and/or their insufficient insulin secretion, and identifying avenues to reinstate beta cell function. We are looking for:

Applicants should have an outstanding international scientific track record in one or more fields including (but not restricted to): developmental/cell biology, physiology, or bioengineering of pancreatic islets; in vivo imaging of islets; human transplant immunology. Successful candidates will receive a competitive start-up package and will be supported in applications for group leader funding from agencies such as the Deutsche ForschungsGemeinschaft, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation or the European Union. Research groups would run for 3 years, with possibility of extension for two or more years, with lab space in the Biopolis campus along the beautiful valley of the river Elbe. Biopolis Dresden provides an outstanding scientific environment encompassing the TUD Medical School, the DFG Research Center and Cluster of Excellence CRTD , the Biotechnology Center, the Bioinnovations-Zentrum, the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering and state-of-the-art-core facilities.

The Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) at the TU Dresden is an interdisciplinary center focussing on research and teaching in molecular bioengineering. We are looking for candidates for

Payment is according to the nationally agreed scale up to E 15 TV-L.Applicants are expected to have an outstanding international scientific track record in one or several of the fields of research and teaching at the Biotechnology Centre: in bioinformatics, biophysics, cellular machines, development, genetics, genomics, proteomics, and tissue engineering. Applicants should posses a PhD. Successful applicants will be invited to apply, together with the BIOTEC, for junior groupleader funding, e.g. from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Emmy Noether program) or the European Union (ERC starting investigator program). If successful, funding for the Junior Research Group would typically run for 5 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The new research groups will be housed in a state-of-the-art building equipped with excellent core facilities. Das DFG-Forschungszentrum für Regenerative Therapien Dresden (CRTD) hat sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Grundlagen für bessere Therapieverfahren u. a. für Leukämie, Diabetes, Herzkreislauferkrankungen und degenerative Erkrankungen des Nervensystems zu entwickeln. Mit einem Netzwerk von mehr als 80 Forschungsgruppen ist es ein außergewöhnliches Forschungszentrum hinsichtlich Größe, thematischer Fokussierung und Interdisziplinarität.

Zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt ist eine Stelle als

Biologielaborant / MTA (m/w)
zunächst befristet für 1 Jahr, mit der Option auf Verlängerung, in Vollzeit zu besetzen.

Sie übernehmen neben organisatorischen Arbeiten im Labor in der Arbeitsgruppe „Immuntoleranz in Regeneration“ Tätigkeiten bei der molekularbiologische, biochemischen und gentechnischen Analyse der Entwicklung und Funktion regulatorischer T-Zellen in Mausmodellen für Autoimmunerkrankungen.

Ihr Profil:

•    abgeschlossene Ausbildung als medizinisch oder biologisch-technische/er Assistent/in mit staatlicher Anerkennung
•    Beherrschen der englischen Sprache (Tätigkeit in einem international ausgerichteten Arbeitsumfeld)
•    Interesse an molekularbiologischen, genetischen und vergleichenden Fragestellungen
•    Berufserfahrung mit versuchstierkundlichen und immunologischen Arbeitsmethoden ist von Vorteil
•    Durchsetzungsvermögen; kommunikationsstark (verschiedene Nationen); Organisationstalent und eine hohe Teamfähigkeit
