Central, unique elements of the CRTD are its technology platforms. Cutting-edge technologies, like High-Throughput Screening, Electron Microscopy or other Imaging methods as well as liquid handling by robots, and state of the art GMP facilities are offered centrally to all scientists in the CRTD community. Purchasing equipment for central technology platforms rather than for single groups improves efficient use of expensive equipment and ensures affordable access to cutting-edge technology.

Many joint facilities have been established in cooperation with CRTD partner institutions, such as the Medical Faculty, the Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) or the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology (MPI-CBG).

Some facilities are available through CRTD partners at distinct institutions and some technologies, are offered via the CRTD network by distinct research groups. In addition, specific equipment is available via cooperation at the CRTD. The CRTD technology platform is headed by Petra Schwille and Carsten Werner.
