Living expenses in Dresden
The TU Dresden is a public university that does not charge tuition fees. Students only have to pay a registration or service fee (called "Semesterbeitrag") of approx. EUR 240 per semester, which includes a ticket for Dresden’s public transport network.

In general, living costs in Dresden are relatively lower as compared to other German cities. Students may expect monthly expenses of minimum EUR 650-700. This will cover the following:

  • Rent: approx. EUR 150-300 (in a student residence or shared flat/WG)
  • Health insurance: EUR 60-100
  • Personal expenses


Scholarships
GoWest Scholarship Program for nationals from Middle and Eastern Europe, including the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In cooperation with the Haniel and Klaus Tschira foundation, we offer up to 3 GoWest scholarships to outstanding students from Middle and Eastern Europe, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, for the 3 Master's courses Regenerative Biology and Medicine, Molecular Bioengineering and Nanobiophysics.

The scholarship amounts to 625 EUR per month and includes a German language course. In order to apply for it, please state this in the online application form. The selection committee of the Master's program selects the eligible candidates among the admitted students and submits a shortlist to the Haniel and Klaus Tschira foundation for approval. Successful candidates are notified by the BIOTEC/CRTD student office.
