TU Dresden

The DFG-Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is a research institute and Cluster of Excellence at the Technische Universität Dresden, comprising 18 core research groups. Embracing these core groups is the CRTD Members network, an interdisciplinary organization of around 80 principal investigators located at other research institutes in Dresden including:

  • Faculty of Medicine of the University Hospital 'Carl Gustav Carus'
  • Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) at the TU Dresden
  • B CUBE - Center for Molecular Bioengineering at the TU Dresden
  • Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics
  • Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf
  • Paul-Langerhans-Institut Dresden
  • Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials
  • Leibniz-Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF)

Founded on January 1, 2006, the CRTD was awarded the status of Cluster of Excellence of the Technische Universität Dresden on October 13, 2006, with the focus, "From cells to tissues to therapies: Engineering the cellular basis of regeneration". In June 2012, the CRTD was reaffirmed as a DFG-Research Center and Cluster of Excellence.

As a central scientific unit of the Technische Universität Dresden, the CRTD is supervised directly by the university leadership (Rectorate), similar to other faculties of the university.

The CRTD has its own bylaws, organizational structure and decision making bodies. The organizational structure is composed of the CRTD Board, the Executive Board, the CRTD Member Assembly, the Director, Research Group Leader Assembly, and the Administration. In addition, a Scientific Advisory Board has been appointed.
